SIGN ONLINE PETITION ASKING GOV. BESHEAR TO COMMUTE THE SENTENCE OF MARCO CHAPMAN Gov. Beshear, Please Grant Chapman Clemency
This page will provide information related to this case of Marco Chapman: court decisions, news items, information related to protest activities, petition forms and other related materials. November Issue of Abolition Now! features Marco's story and includes sample message (also found below) to use when contacting Gov. Steve Beshear to urge him to grant clemency and commute Marco's sentence. Statement of the Case - This document is the basis for the story in the above newsletter. There is only one way, unless there is some unexpected news from a court, for this execution to be stopped. Gov. Steve Beshear must grant clemency and commute Marco's sentence. Please contact Gov. Beshear as soon as possible and ask him to refuse to execute this clearly mentally ill man. Use all your contacts to invite others to do the same. Governor Steve Beshear 700 Capitol Avenue, Suite 100 Frankfort, Kentucky 40601 Main Line: (502) 564-2611 Fax: (502) 564-2517 TDD: (502) 564-9551 Or go to http://www.governor.ky.gov/contact/contact.htm and send your message to him online. Sample Message - This is only a sample and you are encouraged to use your own words in making this important request. Dear Governor Beshear, I am writing to ask that you grant clemency to Marco Chapman who killed two children, Cody and Chelbi Sharon. Certainly long prison terms or life in prison without parole satisfy the need of citizens to be protected from one who has committed murder. Although he has requested to be executed now, do not assist him in committing suicide at the hands of the people of Kentucky. Life is not ours to destroy. Killing is an evil we hope to overcome. We cannot do that by more killing. Please use the power granted you by the people of Kentucky to commute Marco Chapman’s sentence. Thank you for your serious consideration of my request. Sincerely yours,... News Articles and Opinion Articles (The materials below are a minor sampling of what was reported in this case. Web and broadcast media covered the execution and the lead up to it extensively.)
